Cleaning Shipwrecks
In the night of 1 to 2 January 2019, the ship MSCZoe lost 342 shipping containers into the North Sea above the Wadden Islands. The estimate of the missing cargo approximately 800,000 kg. Plastics in the sea on the edge of the Wadden Sea is a problem for the future. It threatens the water quality of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Scientific ecological research in wind farms
Bureau Waardenburg has more than 20 years of expertise in ecological studies related to wind farms, onshore and offshore. In this production we combined images of them with our footages. Doctor Joop Coolen works as a commercial diver for Wageningen Marine Research. He researches the diversity of species and the biomass of marine growth on shipwrecks, wind turbines and gas platforms. We made this film to make the work of Joop Coolen visible and to promote the special skills he has.
Rich biodiversity of the North Sea
In the renewed center 'Duinpanne' (De Panne, Belgium) is a spacious, round film created to let the visitors wonder about the beauty and rich biodiversity the North Sea has to offer. For that exhibit room we have created a film in which more than fifty species of North Sea fauna are shown in their natural habitat.

Stichting De Noordzee and Stichting Natuur & Milieu asked Dutch Maritime Productions to portray the pilot of project 'The rich North Sea'. Strict safety requirements are set in order to be able to work and film on board installation vessels, in wind farms and on production platforms. We have all the certifications necessary to conduct this kind of job.
Commercial Beemster 5 Euro Coin
The Royal Dutch Mint struck a commemorative coin in honor of the 20th anniversary as UNESCO world heritage site of Droogmakerij de Beemster. Our client had the idea of creating a commercial that had to illustrate what it would look like as if the Beemster never had been drained. That resulted in a underwater shoot with a couch, a floor lamp and our lovely model Sandy.
Explanimation Dogger Bank complaint
The Dogger Bank is situated in the middle of the North Sea. It is an important engine for marine life, but heavily (over) fished. This explanimation consist of a unique combination of animated video and underwater footage. It makes the issues of European laws and geographical boundaries visible. It is a call for action to the European parlement to fulfil the promises they have made.

Shellfish reefs in the North Sea
Once twenty percent of the North Sea bottom consisted of shellfish reefs, but these have disappeared. The banks were a resting area and breeding ground for fish, they provide food for birds and serve as a foundation te grow on, they filter the water and form a natural coastal defence. In short: shellfish reefs are indispensable. Fortunately, hard work has been carried out to restore them, and the first results are hopeful!
Ghost fishing in the North Sea
This trailer shows the importance of 'Duik de Noordzee schoon'. This dutch foundation dives on all wrecks of the North Sea to clean them of ghost fishing nets. These nets keep on fishing after the have been lost by fishermen. Marine life gets entangled and die a slow death.

Birth of a shorthorn sculpin
In the winter of 2012, the Grevelingen Lake was partially frozen, an exceptional phenomenon. And while nature on land has become to a stop, under water some fish are already busy with their reproduction. Perseverance resulted in this wonderful short-documentary about the double devotion of the shorthorn sculpin.
